Shoulder surgery, like every surgery, has inherent risks, including failure and infection. In a perfect world, every surgery would go perfectly every time, however, unfortunately, complications and failures do occur. Sometimes these complications and failures are best addressed with additional surgery. Dr. Jurek’s clinical practice includes a special focus on these types of cases.
If you have had shoulder surgery with a suboptimal result and would like to discuss further treatment options available to you with Dr. Jurek, call (206) 386-2600 to schedule an appointment. You may also request an appointment online.
Prior to your appointment, please gather all of your records from your previous surgeries, including the operative report(s), intraoperative photographs (if applicable), and all of your shoulder imaging on a disk (including preoperative and postoperative x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans) and bring these with you to your visit.
During your consultation, Dr. Jurek will review the reports and imaging that you provided and will discuss your current symptoms and medical history. She will also conduct a physical exam and may order additional imaging for a complete assessment of your shoulder.
After a thorough assessment of your shoulder and a discussion of your current symptoms and limitations, Dr. Jurek will discuss the different treatment options available to you. She will help you understand the potential risks and benefits of revision surgery.
If Dr. Jurek determines that you are a candidate for revision surgery, she will help you plan and prepare for your shoulder surgery. Please read Surgery Guidance before your surgery for information on what to expect before, during, and after your surgery and important tips and advice to make your recovery as easy and successful as possible.
